FRANK OCEAN CONCERT at EL REY
[Nov 15, 2011 Los Angeles El Rey Theatre ]
Big ups to Jane for the hookups again at El Rey :] Always lovin’ the concerts. I’ve been waiting to hit this show for quite some time! Rockin’ w/ Frank Ocean for some time and I was glad to hit this SOLD OUT SHOW.
When I got there, it was packed house! Possibly every LA hypebeaster and hip hop industry head was there, including Tennis Champion Serena Williams who btw jacked my table…(i like venus better anyways.)
I’m not too sure what else to really write about. The dude sings as well as he does on records. He has a great voice. To be really really honest though, his performance was kinda dull. I wished he had a full band to accompany him (Maybe sometime in the future?). The thing that definitely made it worthwhile was that you know there was some hardcore frank ocean fans in the building. Thats what made this concert memorable. It was the first time him doing a show in LA off his Ultra Nostalgia Mixtape. Which is sucha amazing album, you couldn’t really help but to have a good time.
Of course he had to bring out the goblin.
Shout outs to the ricer girl blocking my view lol. (They gave out these hats for free to the fans)
Definitely the best part of the night was when he performed Acura Integurl (My favorite Frank Ocean song for like 5 months) & Then He performed American Wedding (which samples The Eagles’ Hotel California). When the awesome electric guitar solo came out he busted out ROCKBAND! LOL dude has humor and was definitely really cool to see.
