Wack Promoters
I just got back from Vancouver, and I was debating on wheter or not to write this blogpost just because I don’t really like writing negative stuff on my page, and I want to try my best to keep it positive 100%. But sometimes you just got to do it.
This is more for myself, and if this is too much then don’t read because I’m just going to vent on this dude.
This past weekend I got to go out to Vancouver for a show with Joseph and I’ve never met a promoter that was as shady as this (I’m not going to drop his name just because theres no reason for him to get any shine.) I heard a lot of bad things about this guy from my contacts down in Vancouver but I really wanted to give the guy a chance.
I’m not going to go into details about my first incident with him before I left to Vancouver but it left a very bad taste in my mouth. All I know is that after the first night of staying out there I was already thinking that he didn’t know what he was doing but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we were just working with very professional people before hand and this is what would happen when we bump into someone who is still in the learning process. Myself and a fellow manager even went as far as helping him out by planning out the rides & itinerary that didn’t have. We set breakfast time & even soundcheck time. All he needed to do was pick us up. Next morning he leaves us hanging at the Hotel Lobby for an hour and half. When we get there for soundcheck I end up playing sound engineer and helping the acts w/ sound. I felt extra bad for the VIP guest he made wait an extra 2 hours in the cold. (Even though I know you vancouverians can handle that weather. Its messed up. )
The show goes late. He has no set schedule for the show. The other fellow manager ends up buying Pizza for the acts that he brought out for lunch. After the show ended we had to set up dinner for ourselves through him.
I’m not going to go into details with the rest of this kids hospitality skills because I’m going to just focus on the important details.
The icing on the top was that he kind of walked us into a club later that night and just left and said that he would be scheduling our rides for the next morning to the airport.
so the next morning…
this guy STOPS RESPONDING TO MY TEXT MESSAGES & I END UP CABBING IT TO THE AIRPORT w/ the group.
I’ve left out a lot of other details in this blog just because I want to refrain myself from sounding petty. What I’ve mentioned is what I feel that the least I can get is a text message back saying that he couldn’t give us a ride to the airport.
I know you’re probably going to read this dude, I wish you the best of luck. You’re lucky that you had a cast of very professional artists on your lineup and we handled that show for you. I would just like to tell you that everyone could have just not do the show after how you were treating them. We saved the show you semi-put together. That kind of business that you do will come haunting back to you man.
So wrapping up. Great City! Great times with the crew! Great Supporters! Great club! BLVD22. Wack Event Promoters.
Signing out.
