Going to try a new column for my blog called “NEEZY’S NEIGHBORHOOD”. One of the things I can’t ever forget is that I have been blessed with great friends. Friends that do great things with their lives, and keep pushing me to do better. Friends that I’ve been able to meet because of my crazy job! So here we go!
Made a trip down to Orange County for this first entry of NEEZY’S NEIGHBORHOOD.
I’m not usually a fan of “THE OC” but this trip was long overdue.
So meet Wallace Vu aka WhatsupWally. I’ve mentioned Wally a good amount of times on my twitters/tumblr. He’s the guy behind me laughing at me while I make a fool of myself on my 25th birthday at ECCO. Its a old picture, and we’ve done a lot more since then but I think this captures our friendship pretty well. One of us does something stupid, and the other one is there to laugh and capture it and remind us of it the next day. And although he’s laughing his ass off here, he’s standing on the table too, to make sure I don’t fall (Wow, so deep right? Lol.)
So who’s Wally? Wally is one of the Senior Marketing guys at ORISUE. A men’s line based out in Orange County, a clothing line that have clothed the majority of the youth in Southern California and the rest of the world. Wally was there from the start and told me that this was something he really believed in and ever since I’ve always supported him anyway that I could. Fast forward a couple years and they have been gearing up some of the biggest artists in the world from Rick Ross to Far East Movement. They started off as a streetwear company but have really evolved into something that so much more. A lot of it is due to this guy here. He’s been putting a lot of work into making sure that the visiblity of ORISUE was really out there.
So when I got there I had mentioned that I’ve never had Wingstop and we decided to go there and try it out! I was very much excited.
So I’ve known Wally since my early early days of promoting. I think I was like 20? I’m not sure. All I remember is that we first met at one of the most historic nightclubs in Los Angeles (Century Club in Century City). Big ups if you’re old enough to remember Century Club. He was with Spots, I was with Proof positive. A lot has changed since then (companies, job titles, parties, people.) But the one thing thats stayed pretty constant was our friendship. If anything the past 2 years or so we’ve actually got a lot closer, and through that we’ve actually grown a lot as business men learning from each other.
Since we hadn’t seen each other in a long time, we caught each other up on our personal lives, work, music, and just bullshit. After that headed back to the ORISUE HQ.
When I got back there I got into a 1 hour conversation with Richard Vaughn (Head of the Marketing dept) for ORISUE. One hour isn’t even that long since most of our marketing convos last for at least 3 hours at average. lol. Richard has also been a big influence on my work life, but that’ll be another story on another day.
So thats my entry for NEEZY’S NEIGHBORHOOD : WHATSUPWALLY
Stay tuned to my tumblr because I’ll be working on a project with ORISUE that i’m really excited about! #MOREpicturesMOREadventures
Went out to the mad decent block party this past saturday. Free concert :) Got to catch Mr. Diplo play for like 10-15 minutes! and got to see this dope new dj that i am kind of a fan now. (LUNICE). Dude was wildin’ out.
Major Food truck Actions!
Of course no block party would not be w/o a DODGEBALL tournament
Hipster galore. Bigups to the wacky inflatable tubes :)
Right after the blockparty headed over to BIGMANBAKES and got myself a cupcake! :)
So I’m up late because I wanted to do a blogpost about my trip to this cool artshow. “I AM 8BIT" up in echo park. I had a really great time, and it was nice to just take a time out from work and kind of just relax and enjoy some really awesome art. Originally we wanted to go to the artwalk, but I’ve heard about this show last year and wanted to go, and one of my JETSET crew members Nicky told me a that it was happening again this year, and sent me a flyer!
Pretty much its an artshow with over 100 artists re-imagining their favorite 80’s video game characters.
So I convinced my friends to go, and head to hipsterville usa aka Echo Park to this show
As you can see this awesome 2 block line we waited, but it was okay because later we found out that it was an OPEN BAR inside :) (For all who don’t know I am on a 6month no alcohol cleanse. I am on Week 5 going on Week 6 lol.)
Of course while we wait there was this awesome treasure chest w/ shield & treasures.
Sick Old Video Game Consoles & Equipment
This is one of my favorite paintings from this show just because I realize I really like this video game. Its one of the first video games that I played. Maybe even my first, I just remember my Dad taking me to this liquor store down the block and he’d watch me play this all day.
This is actually really cool! I am actually right in front of this screen with a peace sign up. The camera actually 8bits me into these cubes! #CUBESTEEZ
This actually took up the whole wall!
This is actually really cool! Can you find all the Super Mario references?
Great show! Till next time!!
P.S. i shall include this video that I put together to showcase some of the cool things that I saw.
I’ve been wanting to go to the MOCA museum for quite some time to catch their street art exhibit. Of course with the buzz of the Exit through the Giftshop Documentary, street art is more popular then ever. After chillin out the other day with my friends…
it’s been well over a year since i’ve released new material. it’s not that i haven’t been writing or recording; it’s just that i’ve been struggling to figure out what kind of music i wanted to make next.
after many, many months of trial and error, i feel that i’m now finally at a point where i’m comfortable in starting to let you listen in on my progress.
here’s a draft recording of a song i’ve codenamed “hello/goodbye”. the title might change as the song gets closer to completion, but it at least fits the bill, for now.
i’ll keep working on this track (and others as well), but i hope you enjoy this draft version in the meantime.
